Georgia Commission on Women Celebrates the Induction of Secretary Dr. Michelle Nelson into the Georgia Nursing Hall of Fame™

ATLANTA, GA — The Georgia Commission on Women (GCW) is proud to announce that Commission Secretary Dr. Michelle A. Nelson, PhD, MBA, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN, FNAP, FADLN, has been named an inductee to the 2026 Cohort of the Georgia Nursing Hall of Fame™.

Selected by the Georgia Nurses Foundation (GNF), Dr. Nelson is one of only ten exemplary registered nurses recognized this year for their transformative contributions to the nursing profession. The induction honors “nursing legends” who have significantly advanced healthcare at the local, national, and international levels.

Dr. Nelson’s induction is a testament to her multifaceted career as a clinician, educator, and advocate. In addition to her extensive academic and clinical credentials, her leadership as Secretary of the Georgia Commission on Women has been vital in championing the health and status of women throughout the state.

The formal induction ceremony will take place on February 26, 2026. The Georgia Commission on Women extends its deepest congratulations to Dr. Nelson for this historic achievement.
