Sallie Baker
Ms. Barker has an extensive background in higher education and healthcare. She began her healthcare career in 1998 at Athens Regional Medical Center until 2001. Served as Public Relations Director, College of Journalism and Mass Communications, University of Georgia, from 2001-2004. She was named in 2004 as the Project Director, Georgia Health Policy Center, Georgia State University, where she served until 2007. From 2007 until 2016 she served as Communications Director of Upson Regional Medical Center, Thomaston, Georgia and served the same facility as the Director of Strategy and Business Development Director until fall 2018. Ms. Barker offers more than 25 years of experience in executive administration, communications, rural health and health policy advocacy. Ms. Barker has a strong commitment to community development and has served on Pike and Upson Chambers of Commerce and the Three Rivers Regional Commission. Sallie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, University of Georgia, and a Master of Health Administration, South University, Savannah, Georgia. She is a graduate of the Georgia Economic Leadership Academy and Leadership Georgia. Ms. Barker currently serves as Director, Office of Health Services, Georgia Department of Corrections.
