Salute to Hospitalized Veterans - February 15, 2008
Nellie Duke and Bette Rose Bowers represented the Georgia Commission on Women, Georgia Women's Institute, American Legion Auxiliary and the USO, when they participated in the "Salute to Hospitalized Veterans" event at the Atlanta VA Hospital. After the patriotic program in recognition of the sacrifice and service of veterans of the U.S. Military, they visited patients in hospital wards and delivered valentine gifts. Duke and Bowers were moved by the numbers of patients receiving services at the VA Center, impressed by the concern of staff and volunteers, and pledged their continued support, especially for homeless veterans who have so many needs, not only physical, but material and emotional as well.
